The year 2025 marked a significant chapter in the ongoing efforts to celebrate the life and legacy of General Omar Bradley, Moberly’s hometown hero. Through dedicated collaboration, community involvement, and strong support from state and military partners, two major recognition projects were successfully completed—cementing Bradley’s legacy in new and meaningful ways.
Highway 63 Named in Honor of General Bradley
One of the year’s most impactful achievements was the successful designation of a portion of Highway 63 as the General Omar Bradley Memorial Highway.
Sarah Graff, Chair of The General Omar Bradley Memorial, Library, and Museum Inc., and LTC Walt Lantzy, U.S. Army (Ret.), President of the General Omar Bradley Mid-Missouri Chapter of MOAA, spearheaded the effort. Their work included gathering more than 100 signatures, navigating the Missouri Department of Transportation application process, raising $4,000 for the signage, and completing legislative requirements.
By late 2025, MoDOT officially approved the memorial sign—ensuring that thousands of travelers will be reminded of General Bradley’s legacy every day.

Renaming of the Moberly Armory
Another major milestone of 2025 was the successful renaming of the Moberly Armory to the General Omar Bradley Armory. The Missouri National Guard offered strong support for the initiative, recognizing Bradley’s influence on American military history.
The dedication ceremony was held on June 6, 2025, aligning with the 81st Anniversary of D-Day, a date deeply tied to General Bradley’s leadership during World War II.
Major Brian Randolph served as Master of Ceremonies, with BG Matthew M. Bacon and Sarah Graff as featured speakers. Together, the two guest speakers unveiled the new armory signage before an audience of community members and military leaders.
During the ceremony, LTC Walt Lantzy presented the HHC Commander with a commemorative plaque to be displayed inside the armory as a permanent tribute.

Community Participation and Leadership
The 2025 recognition events drew strong support from across the region. Attendees included:
- Col. Seek, Commander of the 35th Engineer Brigade and Chief of Staff, Missouri National Guard
- Members of the Moberly City Council
- American Legion Post 6
- VFW Post 2654
- Board members of The General Omar Bradley Memorial, Library, and Museum Inc.
Their presence reflected the widespread pride and respect the community holds for General Bradley and his connection to Moberly.
